The Setup area allows you to manage and customize your default settings throughout the application.
To access Firm Settings:
- From the toolbar, click your Profile icon.
- From the drop-down, select Setup.
- From the Setup left navigation, click Firm Settings.
The Financial tab allows you to configure billing, tax, allocation, and finance charge settings.
The Regional Settings tab allows you to configure Canada-specific options for the firm.
The Firm Preferences tab allows you to configure defaults and behaviors for all users.
We recommend you have your bookkeeper review these settings.
The eBilling tab allows you to set up and manage UTBMS Codes used for electronic billing.
The Invoice Settings tab allows you to configure invoice templates, print settings, approval settings, and delivery options.
The Email Templates tab allows you to configure templates used throughout the software.
Firm information prints on invoice headers and various system reports.
Open API allows your firm to connect NextGen with external third-party tools—such as accounting platforms, document management systems, CRMs, calendaring apps, and business intelligence tools like Power BI—through a secure, bi-directional data sync. Instead of relying on pre-built integrations, your development team (or a third-party developer) can build custom integrations tailored to your firm’s workflows.
Our document storage solutions give you two folders by default, internal documents and client portal documents. To give you the flexibility to create a folder structure based on your area of law, you can create reusable folder templates that apply automatically when a new matter is created — keeping your document organization consistent across the firm without any extra effort.
