You can delete a timecard, whether it's billed or unbilled, provided you have the necessary permissions. However, if your firm uses accrual-based accounting, you must use the Change/Write off function to delete an item already billed.

Delete an Unbilled Timecard

From Matters

To delete an Unbilled timecard:

  1. From the left navigation panel, click Matters.
  2. On the Matters screen, double-click the matter, or single-click the matter to highlight it.
  3. Scroll down to view the matter details.
  4. By default, you'll see the matter summary. Click on the Billing tab.
  5. On the selected Time/Expense, double-click the timecard. You can also single-click to highlight the timecard, then click on the 3 dots to the right of the timecard.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. The Delete Time/Expense message box displays: Are you sure you want to delete the Timecard?
  8. Click 'Yes'.
  9. The listing updates with the timecard's deletion.

Delete a Billed Timecard

Important: If your firm uses accrual-based accounting, you must use the Change/Write off function to delete an item already billed.
  1. From the left navigation panel, click Matters.
  2. On the Matters screen, double-click the matter, or single-click the matter to highlight it.
  3. Scroll down to view the matter details.
  4. By default, you'll see the matter Summary. Click on the Billing tab.
  5. From the tabs atop the billing screen, select Time/Expense.
  6. Use the filter to select Billed.
  7. Single-click the impacted timecard to highlight it, then click on the 3 dots to the right and select Delete.
  8. You'll be prompted with the following: "Timecard is linked to the Approved Invoice...revert the associated invoice to draft."
  9. Click on the Invoice tab and use the filter to select the specific invoice.
  10. Click on the three dots to the right of the invoice and select Delete.
  11. You'll be prompted with the following: "Are you sure you want to delete the selected invoice?" Select Yes.
  12. Your invoice will be deleted and the timecard will go back to unbilled status.
  13. Use the steps above to delete and unbilled timecard.
