Contacts and Matters |
The Contacts area allows you to manage your Client, Payee, and Address Book contacts.
Matters are the software's building blocks, allowing you to create timecards, expense cards, invoices, trust transactions, and use the software's practice management tools.
The Settings section provides the opportunity to specify a greater level of detail relative to the following:
By default, the billing contact on a matter is the associated client. For situations where a different party should receive the invoice, or multiple parties want to receive an emailed copy, we provide more granular invoice settings on the matter level.
By setting a matter budget, you can determine the time, amount, and expenses for specific matters, ensuring that you do not spend more than the funds allocated for those matters.
You can make a matter inactive to archive it.
You can use matter templates that have preset parameters for certain types of matters, helping you to efficiently add a matter with prefilled entries.
With the matter template feature you can create a framework with predefined parameters for certain types of matters helping you to efficiently add a matter with prefilled entries.
Adding relations to matters and contacts supports the conflict check feature and helps when creating merge fields for document assembly.
You can export your contacts for reporting purposes, as a backup, or for import into a CRM or contact management tool.
The Matter Summary screen is like the dashboard but on a matter level. It displays client matter and billing information.
You can check for conflicts of interest between clients and contacts from various matters.
You can override the default timekeeper fee allocations and set up other party fee allocations, such as the originating attorney or responsible attorney, at the matter level.
Jobs you add to the Job List continue their activities in the program while the system completes the download behind the scenes.
The Job List includes all jobs' statuses, details, and results.
Sometimes multiple parties share the responsibility of making the payment for one matter. Split billing allows you to split the fees and expenses for a single matter among multiple matters.
To protect your client from a conflict of interest, you can use the Ethical Wall feature. This will prevent selected users from viewing a particular matter and any associated files. Users that are restricted will not be able to view any data related to the matter or find this matter under:
You can store and manage the contact information for payees to whom you regularly make payments.
